9th Oct – Vladimir and Suzdal

Fitting in a bit of sightseeing on the way to the train station we said goodbye to Irene in Nizhny Novgorod and boarded our first siting train bound for Vladimir. Our local guide – also Irene showed us a number of sights including the Golden gate – only one of 4 left standing – the others were located in Paris ………. The Kremlin and Assumption Cathedral. The Cathedrals are all so very different so we really can’t help ourselves when taking photos – is always difficult to choose which ones to post.

Suzdal gives us the impression of a town created especially for tourists to see what a ‘Typical Russian Town’ looks like. We have also started seeing Chinese tourists in their masses again (it has been days since we have seen other tourists). The hotel is huge and when walking down to check out how expensive the hotel restaurant is we came across some berries to feast on.

We then explored the tow, watched the sunset and settle into a cosy ‘diner’ for a typical 3 course meal that we are really getting used to – Salad, soup and then mains.

Finished the day off in our hotel room with the bottle of Vodka that we had purchased for our last sleeping train trip (and were not able to drink). Boy did the vodka open up some interesting conversations!

  1. What pretty scenery it is even in the towns. Nice to see blue sky and that dads mascot is enjoying the sight seeing as well, she must be very relieved to be adopted. Nicola x
