21st September - Beijing for Tea

So yes we did get Chocolate cake for breakfast with our tea and coffee. It was like a wagon wheel with cake rather than biscuit.

Mum and I managed to check in to the hotel room when we arrived so after settling in we went exploring down the little alleyways and found a top good value local restaurant for lunch. We ordered and then cooked the food on a grill in the middle of the table.
Walking off our lunch we found the closer we walked to Tiananmen square the more touristy the establishments became so headed back to meet Vladimir, our Guide for the next 25 days. We also met Ruth who was going to be joining us however looks unlikely now as her passport was stolen so will not get another one in time!

Dinner was in a magical tea house full to the brim with tea pots and tea. Charlie cooked us a home cooked meal then his wife Alice (chose her name from Alice in Wonderland) gave us a tea tasting.
